This two-part ritual can be performed to purify a room, for further magical work or meditation and also can be used for protection. Rather than appealing to the Elements, we now go to those beings or energies that are in charge of the Elements and make a direct appeal to them.

the Kabbalistic Cross, is used by the practitioner to open himself to the powers of the Universe and to state that he is present and ready for work. By calling the energy of the Universe into the practitioner through the center of his being, the mind, body, and soul are energised and in alignment with the cosmic forces. The practitioner is then able to direct these energies with wisdom and at will.

The protection that the pentagrams give is to banish any negative energy that may be present on any level whatsoever.
